…Was navigating my way through the slow traffic today and I had an almost epiphany…our positions in life are not absolute…sometimes you’re ahead, and sometimes you’re not…regardless, you have to keep moving till you get to your destination…now this message is something that has always hovered in my subconscious but it really just dawned on me today…I used to be guilty of comparing myself with others…wondering and fretting about why my life is not panning out like theirs…but I’ve been learning that the only person I should be competing with is myself…am I still at the same spot or am I moving ahead? That car ahead that you’ve got pegged as your standard may end up behind you soon enough…or you could be taking totally different routes and then what?
Ecclesiastes 9:11 really sums this up for me…the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong…but time and chance happen to them all…
…so yeah…remember that next time while you’re cursing under your breath and muttering about how the other cars are getting ahead…instead, you just keep moving and be aware of any opportunities for you to change course…time and chance does not mean magic, lol! So you have to do your bit…
That said, while I’m in traffic, I usually just turn up the music and sing along loudly….with my windows up of course, lol…traffic is already a struggle…might as well make the most fun out of it…what do you do when you’re in slow traffic?
